Early Cuneiform, Phaistos Disc, ~3500-3000 BCE.Cuneiform is a system of writing first developed by the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia.This shows the connection between object (with roots to zodiac symbology) and letter shapes as language evolved.Both sides feature a spiral arrangement of 241 symbols, comprising 45 unique signs depicting humans, animals, plants, and tools.The script remains undeciphered, and its exact purpose is still debated.Ref.
from object to cuneiformAkkadian (the language of Babylon and Assyria) is one of the oldest attested Semitic languages, written in cuneiform. Akkadian used triconsonantal roots.Ugaritic (written in cuneiform script) is the closest known language to early Phoenician. It had a fully developed triconsonantal root system.
